Motorola Krave ZN4 Review
Motorola's Budget Touch Screen is Successful
I'm
a Verizon Wireless customer, and until recently, I carried the nice but
very basic LG VX8600. Nice phone, but very, very basic. A
couple
of weeks ago, I decided it
was time to upgrade. After much consternation, I bought a Motorola
Krave. This phone has a clear plastic flip cover over the touch screen,
which can be 'locked,' meaning you can't click through it, for when it's
in your pocket or the like, or 'unlocked,' allowing you to click through
the screen to search your pictures with the screen closed or use the
camera as such. The touch screen is nice, with a reactive 'click'
sensation when you click on something via the phone's vibration feature.
This seems like it would be a turn off, but it actually makes using the
touch screen much easier compared to no reaction whatsoever. It provides
a tactile response that is very satisfying.
The ear piece is actually on the
clear screen that you flip up, and I swear that I don't know who it
works. lol It may be wireless, because there is no connection between
the earpiece and the phone save for the plastic cover it's on. Alien
technology, perhaps.
The included browser is very
unique, as it uses a curser-based system, with a huge curser consisting
of a large ring with a pointer on it. You put your finger on the ring to
move the curser and then tap the ring to select whatever the pointer is
over. This takes practice, because you're not tapping what you want,
you're tapping the ring which, which is below it. Very confusing at
first, but it works better then straight clicking of small links on web
sites. Speaking of the mobile web, I have to warn folks that this thing
kills it's battery charge when browsing. No lie; it needs charged once a
day if I browse much as all.
In conclusion, this phone is very
sound. I'm happy with my purchase. If you're a Verizon customer
who can't afford the more expensive Blackberry Storm, I whole heartedly
recommend this phone to you. Just keep the charger handy.
