QUICKTIPS: WoW launched November 23rd, 2004 in

World of Warcraft

WoW is Right
This is our inaugural Retro/Late review, and where
better to start then with World of Warcraft, the biggest game of the
century (and, by association, the millennium) so far? Nowhere, that's
where. I'm a newcomer to WoW, so this is going to be a
contemporary review, focusing on post-patch 2.4 (which is roughly where
I started). Therefore, we're not going to be focusing on how things were
when it launched, but rather what makes it relevant, then and now. Let's
get this started!
I'm not sure what drew me to this game. I'm not an online
gamer. More to the point, I normally don't play with anyone but my buds because
I get easily frustrated with other people. So, like I said, I'm not sure why I
picked this game up, since no one I know plays it. Still don't. I've yet to talk
anyone in to biting the bullet and subscribing (Beta has an anti-WoW ax to grind
of purple (epic) size, and Omega is a little too impatient), so I'm all alone in
the world (of Warcraft). I'm in a guild - my third, actually - but I've not seen
another guildie for the last month. 100+ members and no one's ever on. Am I
getting off track? Sorry about that. I'll get to the review now.
